Please tell us how it goes and anyone else that has a 95 or lower it wont hurt to check for any stored codes using this method. These codes will only be engine codes, which what turns on the cel. I believe cars up to 95 have this on board code reader, my 94 has it, and received EGR and a few other codes in the past. Press the button again for 4 seconds to read the next code, followed by 7 or so seconds to erase. Then go back to the box and push and hold the button for 4 seconds or so, and it will start flashing (if you have stored codes), write down the number of flashes, then you can press it again for 7 seconds to erase that one code. you can do this with the engine running or with the ignition turned all the way right before you start the engine. ![]() Youll find this little box capped off, uncap it and you will see a push button with an led. Its going to be a 1 inch by 1 inch square box on the radiator side or passenger side, near where it says battery in trunk. There should be an engine trouble code reader under your hood, you can delete the codes from there and that might take away your cel (check engine light).
